My 4 year old German Shepherd, Luna loves a good snack – like most dogs. But the catch is, it has to be good.
She will spit out crackers, chips and any hard dog cookies like milk bone. Even the pretty iced dog birthday cookies she turns her snoot up at.
We had an issue this past week, with a pack of Beggin’ Bacon Strips – I opened the pack and poured them into her puppy cookie jar…with in a day I noticed a weird crumb like looking substance creeping out of the jar.
After cleaning off the crumbs and thinking maybe I missed this huge mess when pouring them in the jar, I didn’t think anything of it.
That is until I realized the crumbs were multiplying – spreading like active yeast. Meanwhile, Luna started getting sick – accidents in the house and vomiting.
I tossed the treats, and decided to take the treat making in my own hands (Luna is totally fine by the way).
So here’s the recipe – my picky dog LOVES them and they haven’t gotten rock hard in the cookie jar…which she loves even more.
If you’re new here- we measure with our hearts. Make as much, or as little dough as you want…the important thing is consistency.
What you need:
Oat Flour
PB
A little water
1 egg
YES that really all you need! Mix a 1/2 c of flour with a HEAP of PB (your pup will thank you) – add in a little water for consistency. Mix then add an egg and mix it in.
Roll it out, grab a cute cookie cutter and put on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 25 mins at 350.
Badabing, badaboom – now you’ve got some non toxic treats your fur baby will love.
